What a Crazy Thanksgiving Vacation...

Hmmm...where to start....

Last weekend we were back in the ER with Jaxon. He caught a cold and was again having trouble breathing. So Doug took him to the hospital where they rushed us back again pretty quickly. At first they said that he was going to have to stay overnight for observation, but then decided since we had gotten him in alot quicker this time (we knew the signs) that as long as we felt comfortable (he was still going to be breathing funny for a couple days) that we could go ahead and take him home. This time they sent us home with a nebulizer so that we could give him breathing treatments ourselves. The first couple days we had to give him breathing treatments every 4 hours so we were pretty worn out from the sleepless nights. Then we followed up with our doctor a couple days later, he said right now it looks like it it viral induced (his asthma) so he gave us an extra perscription of meds for him so that we would always have some on hand for any other episodes. He said one other thing that concerned him a little on his blood work (that the hospital had done) was that his blood glucose was a bit high. And with his sister being a diabetic we want to keep an eye on that. He said it was probably just because he was sick and they were giving him an IV which could cause the blood glucose to go up. The above picture is of Jaxon wearing his dinosaur mask and having one of his breathing treatments. He is really good about taking them and leaving the mask on. Now he only gets a breathing treatment if he is coughing alot or having problems breathing.

We had Doogie and Jayde's parent teacher conferences this week as well. They are both doing well and right where they should be at with their schooling. Both of their teachers gave us an idea of things that we can work on with them so we have been doing extra learning activities to help them out. And I think Jayde's teacher (and Doogie's too) will be happy with the progress they have just made this week in their math (especially Jayde) and also Doogie's writing (they are working on writing a story, beginning, middle and end with lots of details).

We had a nice Thanksgiving. We are thankful to have so many family members who were able to join us. Doug's sister and her family were able to make it in time (they drove cross country since they are also relocating). It will be so nice to have them closer and the kids will be able to get to know their cousins alot better. So we had a full house for Thanksgiving (18 people total). I had tried out a couple new recipes for Thanksgiving and was really happy with how they turned out...and I will never go back to my old way of making mashed potatoes, gravy and turkey again!

Now we get to head over for my sis-in-law's marathon (which Doug is going to run as well) tomorrow (the marathon is on Sunday). So it will be fun and I know the kids are excited to see their Aunt. We contemplated just Doug and I going and having a bit of a vacation with no children, but we still aren't very comfortable with leaving Ryann (especially overnight) and having someone else try to manage her diabetes.

So anyways, that's pretty much all we've been up to lately. I bummed that I didn't get many pictures on Thanksgiving of the kids with their cousins so I'm hoping to get some more this weekend at the marathon.

Holiday's are a coming...

Go, go, go...that's all I seem to do around here! Doogie and Jayde are now out of school until the beginning of December (they get an extra long Thanksgiving break because of school conferences). So today was their first day off and I was thinking to myself, great we can all sleep in this morning...but what I forgot was that Ryann still had preschool! So I had to jump out of bed and get going very quickly this morning! Now I need to remember that Ryann has school on Monday and Wednesday next week!

This past week was super crazy...Doug's birthday was on Monday and then Jayde's was on Tuesday. So we had our back to back birthdays going on! And the birthday cake from both parties (since they of course had to have different kinds of cake) is finally almost gone!

Now I need to get prepared for next week...gotta get the house cleaned and go grocery shopping for all the things I need for Thanksgiving dinner. I also want to try and get out Christmas card pics done this weekend and get that out of the way so I can concentrate on all the other holiday things that need to get done.

So anyways, nothing super exciting happening...just our normal family craziness. Oh! I almost forgot to tell you that my brother finally proposed to his girlfriend last weekend. So we get to officially welcome her and her son to the family. We are all very excited and happy for them!

Facebook...

Okay, still can't get the pictures to load so here is the link you can go to to view them on my facebook page!

Facebook Album October 2008
Facebook Album September 2008
Facebook Album August 2008

I will keep trying to get them up on here too though! :)

Sorry no pictures...

For some reason it will not let me upload any more pictures...I keep getting an error message! Grrr....but I will keep trying and hopefully figure out what the problem is. I do have most of these pictures up on my facebook page and I think I can get a link for non-facebook people to view my pictures...I'll have to go take a look at it if I can't get them to upload on here!

Anyways, another crazy day in the Crowe house. Ryann had a doctor appointment today for her diabetes and she's looking good, her AIC was 8.6 which was better than her last one. We have been discussing getting her a continuous blood glucose monitor so that we could see what her blood sugar was doing every 5 minutes or so. Which would be so helpful in better managing her blood sugar, especially if we knew what certain foods did to it and what it does at night! Our doctor recommended the one that he uses which is also a insulin pump as well (which would mean a heck of lot less of pokes for Ryann!) Unfortunately our insurance doesn't like to pay for it so we are going to battle it out with them and try to get them to cough up the money for it. It is extremely helpful that we have such a great doctor who is willing to go to bat for us and fight them with us. So hopefully this will all work out for us (keep your fingers crossed!).

More Pictures...

Okay, here are some more pictures as promised! Boy am I worn out today...I have been on the go all day it seems. The highlight of the day though was being able to go and have lunch with Doogie and Jayde. They were so excited that I was able to come (Doogie had been hounding me for months and things just never seemed to work out) so I will have to make sure I do it more often...besides pretty soon they aren't going to want their mom to come have lunch with them! So now that CJ is taking a nap, Doogie is at the Dentist with Doug, and Jaxon and the girls are watching Max and Ruby I actually have some quiet time to add some more pictures before dinner! So anyways here is the second installment of pictures with more to come soon (I think I have atleast 20 more pictures or so that I want to share!) I was going to try to share more this time but for some reason it doesn't want to upload anymore and keeps giving me an error message! Grrr.... So check back later for more pics!

PICTURES!!

Did you know that Friday is World Diabetes Day?? I have a cute little banner for it on the side of the page, go check it out and see what you can do to get the word out!

Hope you enjoy all the pics, sorry it took me so long to get them up! :) I think I'm going to have to break them up (I took so many!) So be sure to keep checking back during the week and I'll try to get some more up! I still need to put some up of Doogie and just some other ones that I like too (though I like so many!) I was a picture taking fool in the month of October! So I'll be boring you all with alot of pictures! This is about all that the kids are going to let me get up for now (every time I try to upload some CJ is climbing on something!) Also the kids have updated their blogs recently (you can find the link on the side of the page) And Doug has started blogging...he's working on writting a program that will help track Ryann's Diabetes. My Diabetes Project Otherwise nothing super exciting going on. The holidays are coming and I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row... I also decided to go ahead and take the job as Yearbook Editor for Doogie and Jayde's school, so that should be an adventure (hopefully it won't drive me insane!) Oh wait, I'm already insane (CJ has been doing a pretty good job of that lately...everytime I turn around he is climbing on the chairs and table, makes it interesting to get anything done!) So anyways check back later for more pictures! :)

CJ's a supermodel...

Okay, well maybe he's not in a magazine... but he is on the web! You might remember a while back (this summer) when I wrote about winning a contest and CJ won a free (very cute) t-shirt that a very nice lady makes for her etsy shop. Well I sent her a picture of CJ wearing the t-shirt to thank you for the prize and she is now using that picture of CJ on her site! Here's the link if you want to go check it out:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16747185
She also added in my photography blog which I have really been slacking on. So I better get to it and start posting some pictures there and here! I've been a slacker in updating both of my blogs! I have a ton of pictures that I need to post for everyone, so be ready for a flood of pictures coming soon.

On other news, nothing super exciting happening over here. We are just trying to keep everyone healthy, so far so good. But I know the flu bug is going around like crazy over here and the kids at Doogie and Jayde's school are dropping like flies. In fact Jayde was telling me when they were over at the 4th grade classes for their reading buddies one of the kids in the 4th grade class started throwing up everywhere! YUCK! And while I was chaperoning Doogie's class yesterday to go and see the Twelve Dancing Princesses on stage, one of the mom's was telling me that another kid threw up all over her son in the lunch line...GROSS! So I'm hoping that this crud stays away from our house!

Hmmm, what else... Oh yeah! The PTO president at Doogie and Jayde's school has asked me if I would be interested in being the yearbook editor for the school. I was already helping out by taking pictures for them while at field trips and school functions and what not... So I have to decide if I want to be the BIG CHIEF (as one of my friend's refered to it) and if I have the time to devote to it! So I have sent her an email asking for more info and will go from there. But right now I'm leaning towards doing it.

So anyways, I will be flooding both of my blogs soon with lots of pictures. But for now I better sign off and see why my two little boys are being so grumpy!
